You have probably seen them before, 4-panel comics portraying 4 people looking disappointed at first, and then getting super-enthusiastic over something. On pixiv, this kind of template got the name “gaijin yonkoma” (literally “4-cell foreigners”).
The original meme portrays four IGN reporters looking disappointed after the Nintendo conference held at E3 2003, and rejoicing enthusiastically one year later, at E3 2004. These two clashing moments became respectively cell 2 and cell 4 of the 4-panel comic.
Let’s take a look at some funny variations of the Gaijin Yonkoma meme!

4-panel comics include characters talking back and forth even with its short one story narrative. Even though the medium is simple, sometimes the story comes in a full circle! Here are some that caught our attention.
