Rossi, a character from the game, is a girl known for her red hooded cape, large ears, and tail. Her full name is Rossina Wulfperl Luppino. Her older brother, Wulfgard, is a mercenary in the Pack, a Landbreaker clan that survives beyond the bounds of civilized regions.

In a past conflict, many of Rossi’s companions risked their lives to save her when she was still young. Treasured as a member of the Pack, she took on the role of its leader at an early age and carries a strong sense of responsibility—though part of her feels her brother may be more suited to lead. She admires heroic tales, and imagining herself fighting alongside legendary heroes gives her the courage to unleash her own strength.

The award-winning mobile tactical role-playing game Arknights has recently made a foray into the world of anime. Have you been tuning in?

Created by Chinese developer HYPERGRYPH, Arknights is a free-to-play tower defense game that was gradually expanded to more countries after its initial release in China on May 1, 2019.

The goal is simple: defend your tower through the strategic use of your characters, who are dubbed operators. There are various types of operators, each with their own weapons and skill sets. It’s a game that requires an analytical mind and foresight, leading some to even go so far as to consider it a puzzle game.

An anime adaptation, titled Arknights: Prelude to Dawn, debuted on October 29, 2022 and has been praised for its faithfulness to the source material while also adding complementary content that helps new fans ease their way into the franchise. While closely related, the anime and the game are different enough from each other that you don’t need to have played the game to enjoy the anime. (Though, why not treat yourself to both?)
