When someone is skating, they seem to be dancing on the ice, just like a fairy. You won't be able to take your eyes off this beautiful sight. Going to the ice rink for a date is truly special, as you can only do it in winter. Nothing is more fun than guiding your partner through their first step on the ice and holding their hand as they learn to skate.

Ice-skating competitions have recently been gaining attention, in no small part thanks to the popularity of the TV animation series Yuri!!! On ICE. The competitions that are receiving the most attention are figure-skating competitions, comprised of many different types of events, such as single-participant competitions (both men and women) as well as pair and ice-dancing competitions performed by a team of two (men and women). In addition, many other types of genres exist in ice-skating, for example speed-skating; so when someone uses the word “ice-skating”, it’s actually a general word that covers a lot of different categories in skating.

This times, we present a special feature on illustrations of ice-skating, gliding smoothly on the rink. Enjoy!

Yuri On Ice, A War Waged Between Princes of Ice!

Original anime “Yuri on Ice” premiered Autumn 2016 and is a production between cartoonist Mitsuro Kubo and anime director Sayo Yamamoto who penned the original draft. “Yuri on Ice” is the first in history to have an anime plot based around male figure skaters and has already gained a large following with female fans. There are two figure skaters who share the name of “Yuri,” Yuri Plisetsky and Yuuri Katsuki. While they both long to win over the approval of champion Victor Nikiforov, their fate will intertwine with the other in the complexity of the Grand Prix Final.

This time, illustrations of the main three have been featured. From here on out, all eyes are on them and the expectation has been raised! Please enjoy it.
