Graced with an ethereal pair of wings and often a glowing halo around their heads, angels are often depicted as the most beautiful and serene characters in many types of visual art. At times, they are depicted as superpowerful beings capable of great feats of magic and at others, they can be the physical representation of loved ones who've passed on.

Kanade Tachibana (from Angel Beats!) was initially feared for her status as an angel, but as time went on, more about this young maiden was revealed.

Have any of the angelic illustrations below touched your heart?

Characters sporting jet black wings tend to serve as polar opposites to their ivory-winged counterparts. Known for the constellation-related episodes, Greek myths often feature love and warfare among gods and humankind. The story of the passionate Zeus and his wife Hera or the legends of the heroes and warriors--these are the types of stories that excite our inner child. When we look up the night sky, we feel like we're watching various stories unfold. Some are romantic and feature beautiful goddesses, while some are about heroic battles against dreadful monsters. There must be a tale up among the stars that will entertain you!

This time we are featuring illustrations inspired by Greek myths. Please enjoy!

Having nine beautiful and refined tails, the nine-tailed fox is a sacred beast from Chinese mythology. Hidden beneath those mysterious eyes is her spiritual power and who can think straight in the presence of her fascinating aura…? It is said that disguising itself as a beautiful woman with those weapons at her disposal is how a nine-tailed fox tricks humans. The dangerous and yet bewitching allure of a nine-tailed fox in disguise may lead us to willingly submit ourselves to its whims--despite knowing better.

This time we’re featuring illustrations with the theme "nine-tailed fox". Shrines are a familiar place for many Japanese people. There are many occasions to visit one of them during the year: for Hatsumode (the first visit to a shrine to greet the New Year) or simply to pray for something in particular. However, there's more than one kind: from classical, ancient shrines that you can find in Kyoto to more modern ones which perfectly blend in the streets of the Tokyo metropolis. Inside their quiet precincts, you can purify yourself with water and incense and ask the gods to listen to your requests. These magnificent spaces are a breath of fresh air in our everyday life.

Today we collected some breathtaking illustrations portraying shrines. Enjoy!

Greek mythology has been the subject of a wide range of literature and art since long ago. Most people are familiar with names such as Zeus, Apollo, and Medusa. As well, the characters and/or the archetypes behind them are invoked in many motifs of characters in anime and games, even today. The deities of Greek mythology are also well-known for their all-too-human characteristics. The penchant for love and rivalry among the gods is the source of much and varied drama--likely why their legends are still handed down to this day.
Today, we’re featuring the various deified figures of Greek mythology in this collection of illustrations. Please take a look!

In Egypt's Book of the Dead, during Spell 17 there's an interesting looking, mysterious god by the name of Medjed. He looks like a character who has a sheet on top with eyes and has legs that come right out under, almost like a mascot character! They say beams come out of his eyes and his staple food are human hearts, making him one tough god!
Check out these Medjed illustrations!
