One of the most common sights when you’re smack dab in the middle of the urban jungle is the electric poles that line almost every street. While they typically fall into the background in our everyday lives, they play an important part in keeping things up and running. For those in more rural areas, they certainly stand in juxtaposition to the backdrop of the surrounding natural beauty.

Have any of the drawings below left you feeling wired?

Overhead power lines that stretch from electric poles are what support our daily lives by distributing electricity. Power lines were first introduced in Japan in November 1887, as the first thermal power station built in Kojimachi, Tokyo. As the power industry first started going in the West around 1882, it was a slightly late start for Japan. After that in around 1912 (Taisho period), the power industry began evolving rapidly, and has now become a vital part of our everyday lives. The power lines that we may have taken for granted are actually what supports our lifestyles.

Today, we have variety of illustrations featuring the power lines that bring us electricity.

Transmission towers! They carry the flow of electricity from the power stations to places that need them.
You might not see them as often inside the city, but as soon as you take a bit of time outside of the city limits, you'll see these super large steel towers. The huge concrete supports and the rustic looking design creates an almost Romantic theme--there are interestingly enough a lot of enthusiasts! See them paired with a blue sky or a evening sunset... check out these beautiful transmission tower illustrations.
