Shrines are a familiar place for many Japanese people. There are many occasions to visit one of them during the year: for Hatsumode (the first visit to a shrine to greet the New Year) or simply to pray for something in particular. However, there's more than one kind: from classical, ancient shrines that you can find in Kyoto to more modern ones which perfectly blend in the streets of the Tokyo metropolis. Inside their quiet precincts, you can purify yourself with water and incense and ask the gods to listen to your requests. These magnificent spaces are a breath of fresh air in our everyday life.

Today we collected some breathtaking illustrations portraying shrines. Enjoy!

Churches are something that not many Japanese people are familiar with, and they're often connected to fantasy novels or video games. On the other hand, in Europe, where Christianity has its roots, these sacred spaces are familiar daily sceneries. This type of architecture, which is both familiar and unfamiliar, comes in a variety of different shapes and with different motifs.

Today we collected some beautiful artworks portraying churches. Enjoy!

Even now when you hear the words “secret base” you surely get super excited. When you were just a child, you found a place to turn into a secret base and made it into a special place only for yourself, a beloved place only you knew about. When you think about it now, it may seem like it was just a small and unimportant “base”, but at that time it was surely a home that belonged to you and you alone.

The adoration for a secret base is surely the same for both people who used to have a secret base, and to those who didn’t. This time, we would like you to look at the illustrations of secret bases featured here and fondly recall your time as children! Enjoy!

In contrast to main roads and streets, back alleys are often hidden behind buildings.
Taking a step into such back streets will make you feel nostalgic like you’ve gone back in time.
These quiet streets give you a lingering sense of calmness amidst loneliness.

Ever got lost in an alleyway?
Old houses, mixed wires, and broken wooden fences. Above, white t-shirts are fluttering in the wind, narrow airspace making the blue seem so far away.
It feels a little lonely yet feels a bit nostalgic.
Here are some illustrations of alleyways!
