Beings with horns are heavily associated with demons and the supernatural as a whole, terrorizing people with their fearsome appearance. During Setsubun in Japan, people often drive away such creatures (oni) and evil spirits from their homes by throwing beans at them, a tradition known as mamemaki. When those oni turn out to be incredibly cute girls, however, you might find it near-impossible to kick them out of your house, let alone throw a bean at them!

Have any of these devilishly cute oni girls stolen your heart?

Oni, sometimes translated as demon or ogre, have long been featured in Japanese folklore and children’s stories. Traditionally, they have been depicted as fearsome club-wielding, cave-dwelling creatures with horns, fangs, and claw-like nails. Nowadays, in popular culture, oni have become more humanoid and less menacing in appearance, although they usually retain their main characteristics. Isn’t it surprising how simply adding horns and claws to a character can lend them an air of otherworldliness and mystique?

At times fearsome and at times playful, these oni girls are here to steal your heart. Enjoy!

The oni (sometimes translated as ogre or demon) is a famous character in Japanese folklore known for the horns that protrude from their head. Though the number and location may vary depending on the artist's interpretation, these horns make it quite clear just what you're up against.
With a design based heavily on the oni, Lum (from Urusei Yatsura) sports a small pair of horns that perfectly complement her unique hair color.

Not to toot our own horn, but we've collected some amazing artwork featuring some horned ladies below. Check 'em out!

Demons have taken many forms across folklore around the world. In Japan, many perceive them as horned humanoids that wield giant metallic clubs. Although demons are among some of the most feared fabled creatures, there are also those who view them as deities. It's just a matter of days before we can see the new episodes of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and the events of the Entertainment District Arc! The new season, which will start on Sunday, December 5th, will have a focus on the Twelve Kizuki, the demons closer to Muzan Kibutsuji, the ones he directly shared his blood with.

To make sure you're not missing one, we came up with a collection of the lower ranks, from 7 to 12! Although they might not be as strong as the upper ranks, the grudge they hold and the adoration they have for Muzan made these demons worthy of their rank, which is etched on their eyes.

From the main antagonist of the Mugen Train Arc, Enmu, to Rokuro, Makuraba, Mukago, Rui, Kamanue, and Kyogai; which character design do you like the most?

Oni (lit. “demons”, 鬼) often make an appearance in Japanese folklore and mythology. They can be ferociously brutal, but also maintain a bewitching allure. They’re clearly different from humans, with sharp teeth, sharp nails, and horns protruding from their heads.

What sort of character do you think an oni might be?

Oni refers to demons that often appear in Japanese folklore. They are often described as beings with horns on their heads and a huge metal rod in their hands. In some parts of Japan, they are considered as deities. According to one theory, the name "Oni" is derived from the word "hidden" (Onu), which basically refers to things that are not present in the world. Terrible and powerful, scary yet beautiful... Would you like to meet an Oni?

Today we are featuring Oni illustrations. Please enjoy!
