These beautiful wildflowers come in a variety of shades, each with a different meaning—white anemone flowers symbolize sincerity; red and pink, forsaken love or death; purple, protection from evil; and so on. Anemone flowers also symbolize anticipation due to their nature of closing at night and opening back up in the morning as the sun’s rays kiss their petals once again.

Take a look at the following illustrations and enjoy the beauty of these delicate flowers’ petals dancing in the wind!

Taking its name from the Greek word for wind, the anemone is a flower that appears in Greek and Roman mythology and is famous as a flower of love. Although well known for its red color, there are several color varieties like blue, purple, and white. Their meaning in flower language differs depending on the color, so it may be fun to look into and see what each one expresses.

Knowing the little nuances you can add to illustrations with flowers might make you wonder why virtual idol Hatsune Miku is tearfully holding red anemones…

“Anemones” have thin petals that look like they can be blown away easily by the wind and meanings in the language of flowers that say “ephemeral love” and “fading hope”.

It is said that the birth of this flower began with the story of Aphrodite, a goddess from Greek mythology, who secretly had feelings for Adonis, a beautiful young man. Although the origin of anemones might have been a sorrowful love story, red, white, purple, and blue anemones each have their own wonderful meaning--one that is related to either “a heart in love” or “feelings for a loved one”. If you’re looking for a way to convey your feelings, we believe anemone is the perfect flower for that purpose.

Today, we’re featuring illustrations of “anemone”, a flower that recites the feelings inside your heart. Enjoy!

Since these flowers get blown by the wind, they are called windflowers... in Greek, "wind" is "anemone."
With their large petals catching the wind, they are often representing "fleeting love" or "fading hope" and similar heart-wrenching ideas in the language of flowers. In Greek mythology, Adonis bleed because he was secretly in love with Aphrodite... and from his blood, bloomed anemone, hence creating the origin from its heart-wrenching image. Even the colors can represent other themes: red means "I love you," white means "hopeful reality," purple means "I believe you and will wait for you," etc. Check out these illustrations of anemone!
