Fan Art of Taka'aki Morofushi from Detective Conan - Rising to Fame on the Big Screen!

The 28th installment of the Detective Conan movie series, titled Detective Conan: The One-eyed Flashback, was released on April 18th, 2025.

The story unfolds in the snow-covered mountains of Nagano Prefecture, intertwining a present-day case involving Kogoro Mouri’s former colleague with an incident from ten months earlier, when Detective Kansuke Yamato of the Nagano Prefectural Police was seriously injured. The two stories weave together for a truly gripping mystery.

One of the key characters in the film is Taka'aki Morofushi, a police inspector with the Nagano Prefectural Police. His nickname is Koumei, an alternate reading of his first name's kanji characters (高明). He’s known Kansuke since elementary school and is the older brother of Hiromitsu Morofushi, a former Public Security Bureau officer who infiltrated the Black Organization under the codename "Scotch."

Fans of Detective Conan (known as Case Closed in some regions), have you read the 52nd Issue of Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday, published on November 20th, 2024? This issue contains a memorable episode revolving around the Keisatsu Gakkou-gumi (警察学校組, lit. “police academy crew”), the main characters of the Detective Conan Police Academy Arc - Wild Police Story. Additionally, this episode is making waves on the internet due to it picking up where that one scene from the movie Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween left off. (If you’ve watched the film, you probably know which one we’re talking about!)

In the 2022 film Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween, viewers are treated to heartwarming flashbacks of the police academy crew, comprised of Rei Furuya, the serious straight-A student; Hiromitsu Morofushi, a man with a strong sense of justice and previous trauma involving an accident with his parents; Jinpei Matsuda, an outrageous and uncooperative man with a high level of expertise; Kenji Hagiwara, a man with great insight and communication skills who’s terrible with women; and Wataru Date, a natural leader who’s been influenced by his father’s resignation from the force. Unfortunately, only Rei Furuya will be left alive seven years after their graduation. Regardless, these four men continue to live on in the hearts of Rei, his fellow police officers, and many adoring fans.

Detective Conan (also known as Case Closed) is a very popular manga series by Gosho Aoyama that has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Sunday since January 1994.

Among its roster of iconic characters is Ai Habara, who gets her time in the spotlight in the new movie Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine. The movie debuted on Friday, April 14th, 2023, and made over 5.8 billion yen at the box office in just ten days.

Originally a scientist who worked for the secret crime syndicate The Black Organization, she was in fact the person who developed the test compound APTX 4869 which shrunk Shinichi Kudo into his Conan Edogawa form. She ended up using APTX 4869 herself in order to escape from The Black Organization and now lives as Ai Habara.

Detective Conan: the Bride of Halloween is set to hit theaters in Japan on April 15, 2022.

The wedding of Detective Wataru Takagi and Miwako Sato is thrown into chaos after thugs invade and attack, dredging up unwanted memories for Miwako.

Meanwhile, Tooru Amuro, also known as Rei Furuya, of the Public Security Bureau is on the trail of the perpetrator of a series of explosions three years prior that killed his friend and colleague, Detective Jinpei Matsuda, who happens to be Miwako's first love.

While in pursuit, a mysterious person appears and places a bomb-laced collar around Tooru's neck. When Conan Edogawa enters the scene to help Tooru out of his predicament, Tooru divulges all the details of just what happened on that fateful day three years ago.

Detective Conan (known as Case Closed in some regions) is a beloved series in Japan. The 100th volume of the manga is slated for release on October 18th, 2021. This successful series has had many movies as well as spin-offs, and it was recently announced that the spin-off Detective Conan: Police Academy Arc - Wild Police Story is getting an anime adaptation.

This arc takes place in the past and focuses on five characters, colloquially known as the Keisatsu Gakkou-gumi (警察学校組, lit. “police academy crew”). On April 15th, Detective Conan 21st movie Detective Conan: Crimson Love Letter was released! To commemorate this event, the Japanese TV program Kinkyo Road Show broadcasted some of the past movies too. Can you believe this series already turned 21!?
if you didn't know yet, the antagonist of the series, called Black Organization, are just as fascinating as the main protagonists. This mysterious organization has black as its distinctive color, and are known to be not only stylish but also extremely dangerous.
