Touken Ranbu is a browser game where players command sword spirits, known as Touken Danshi, to battle enemies who aim to alter history. Developed by DMM GAMES and Nitroplus, it was first released in 2015. Players take on the role of a Saniwa, who can awaken emotions in inanimate objects. Leading a team of anthropomorphized versions of famous swords, they must battle to protect history as we know it. With its captivating character designs and rich historical background, Touken Ranbu quickly gained widespread popularity and expanded beyond the game into anime, stage plays, musicals, and more.

In celebration of the game’s 10th anniversary, we’re featuring fan art of the five Starter Blades that players first receive—Kiyomitsu Kashuu, Kanesada Kasen, Kunihiro Yamambagiri, Kotetsu Hachisuka, and Yoshiyuki Mutsunokami—as well as Munechika Mikazuki, who serves as the face of the series.

To all the Saniwa out there! Starting this October, the long-awaited anime, Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru, will start airing. Originally released as a browser game in January 2015, Touken Ranbu released a mobile game, Touken Ranbu -ONLINE- Pocket, and it continues its meteoric rise in popularity with the release of an anime series next month. With casting complete, all that’s left is to await the broadcast! There’s a lot of excitement over hearing the young men of the series brought to life by a voice cast♪

Today is Feb 2nd, also known as "Old Guy/Grandfather Day". That's because in Japanese 2 can be read as "Ji" and put that twice together writes out "Old Guy/Grandfather"...! In the game Touken Ranbu, a character by the name of Mikazuki Munechika actually gets a nickname of "Old Guy/Grandfather"! Did you know that? It's because he is a representation of a sword that was created in the 11th Century and jokingly called himself an old man. There's also a character named Tsurumaru Kuninaga that is also called "old man" in the game. Check out illustrations of these two ... old men!

Take up your heart's sword... The characters in Touken Ranbu are personifications of famous swords and the player has to create an army of swords in this battle simulation game. As a Saniwa sage, you command charming and uniquely designed characters that captures the heart of many. New stages and characters are added all the time, so there's always something to do! Today, the 5th of May, has a Touken Ranbu doujinshi event at Tokyo Big Sight. Since there's also a lot of TouRabu fanart on pixiv, we decided to make this Spotlight!
