Sanpaku eyes (三白眼, lit. “three whites eyes”) are when the whites of someone's eyes are visible on both sides as well as either on the top or bottom. It can be quite a striking, powerful look that strikes fear into the hearts of its recipient! Celestia Ludenberg from Danganronpa is really pulling that off!

Humans can express so much through just our eyes alone. For example, in Japan, there’s the sanpaku (三白, lit. three whites) look, where the whites of the eyes are visible above or below the iris. This look gives characters a bit of a cool edge, and you’ll often see it for characters who are a bit taciturn. Hatsune Miku certainly has a different aura than usual with this effect, don’t you think?
