Mega Evolution, a temporary transformation that lets Pokémon unleash power beyond their final forms, first debuted in Pokémon X and Y in 2013.

Only select Pokémon can access this enhanced state by holding a special Mega Stone and resonating with their Trainer’s Key Stone, resulting in a surge of strength that surpasses normal evolution (with a few exceptions). Although Mega Evolution appeared in several titles and remakes after X and Y, it had been absent from mainline games since Pokémon Sword and Shield in 2019. But now, it’s making a thrilling comeback in Pokémon LEGENDS Z-A, set to release on October 16th, 2025, sparking excitement among longtime fans.
