The era of “Taisho Romaticism” has the taste of Western style added on to the traditional Japanese style. The mixed taste was called “modern” back in those days and how they dressed were new and stylish at that time. I’m sure the coming of the Western style made the young men and women excited with hope for the future. The colorful Western designs, frills and laces were added to the neat traditional kimonos. As the word, Taisho Romaticism, young men and women in the end of Taisho era to the beginning of Showa era, taking in the new look were full of romantic atmosphere!
