What's going on behind those closed lids? Closed Eyes
I watch as your lids slowly closing, shielding your eyes from sight--what is going through your head right now? In Japanese, the action of closing one's eyes is called meimoku (瞑目). The sight of someone with closed eyes leads to a myriad of questions: "Is this person having a dream?", "Are they about to burst out laughing?", "Are they thinking of a certain someone?", Are they wishing for something?" There are various facial expressions that a meimoku can accompany and each one of them encourages our imagination to guess what kinds of emotions are swirling inside the person's chest.
This time we're featuring illustrations of meimoku. Enjoy!
