The taste of the word “Oriental” on our tongue is that of something fascinating, but although we have some idea about what is “Oriental”, what exactly does it mean? The word “Oriental” is said to be derived from a word that was first used by the people in ancient Rome to describe “the direction of the rising sun”, namely “the eastern world” or the regions located east of Europe. The unique and exotic qualities of ancient China, India, Japan, and other eastern lands have always been imbued by an enigmatic aura and they have never failed to astound people, including us today.
