The term "boys love", or "BL" for short, refers to works that focus on romantic relationships between men and it's a genre that is loved by many, including those that reside outside of Japan. On pixiv, the nucleus of BL's popularity is made up of not only manga and novels (which you are all probably familiar with already) but also video games. Memorable scenarios, multiple endings that one can arrive to by making different choices--these are among the many ways BL games make the best use of their platforms and coax the hearts of countless people to hammer faster.

This time we're going to introduce a ranking of ten BL games which are featured in more than 1,000 illustrations on pixiv. Aren't you just curious to know what kinds of works have managed to ignite the spark to create in the hearts of many pixiv users? Wait no further!

The story begins when a run-of-the-mill young man Itou Keita received an invitation to attend the super elite Bell Liberty Academy. The game was adapted into an anime series in 2006 and a musical play in 2008.

Terrorism has ruined Japan and Ryugu is a bay coast in Tokyo where there is never a shortage of crime-doers and people seeking pure ecstasy. JJ is an assassin, a lone wolf, who lives there and the game follows his story as he gets involved in conflicts against the mafia. The game has also received a manga adaptation.

Set in a fictional strip of the Taisho period, the plot revolves around the protagonist, Kyoichiro Hiiragi, who is sought after by the military for his ability to see spirits. Hiiragi later finds himself getting dragged into the dispute between military authorities and those who oppose them. An anime series featuring 5-minute episodes titled Taishou Mebiusline: Chicchai-san was aired in 2017.

The protagonist Yoji Sakiyama is a student at a private high school in the outskirt of Tokyo and he has been absent for a year due to his illness. When he returns, his life is filled with nothing but ordinary days as a student until one day everything around Yoji does a 180. The game has been adapted into a novel.

The protagonist has just transferred to a boys' school that boasts itself as the prefecture's most talented and elite school, the Baramon High School. There, he meets a teacher who doesn't quite fit the conventional description of a teacher, the captain of the soccer club, his childhood friend who he hasn't seen in 7 years, a mysterious transfer student, the student council president and more characters with extremely unique personalities. The game depicts the protagonist's love stories with these men. It was later adapted into an anime series, thanks to a successful crowdfunding project, and went viral.

The story takes place when humans have all but perished, leaving humanoid beings known as "cats" (who have ears and tails) to prosper despite a prophecy claiming that the world is coming to its end. It is under these circumstances that the protagonist, Konoe, learns he has been cursed and becomes determined to set out on a journey in order to lift the curse. The game has received both manga and novel adaptations.

In his eagerness to claim a top brass seat, Jean is determined to fulfill his boss' order by helping the organization's four echelons break free from prison. It has been adapted into several media, including a number of spin-off games, a manga series, and, in 2018, a stage play.

An inconsiderate development plan results in the construction of an exclusive and high-class recreation facility and the eviction of the area's residents to an island. Aoba, the protagonist, lives a peaceful life together with his grandmother on the island. However, a series of events that began with an incident gradually robs Aoba's life of the peace. The game has been adapted into a manga series and, in 2014, an anime series.
