Fan Art of "Fruits Basket" - This Manga Classic is Getting a Movie Prequel?!
The Fruits Basket manga started serialization in 1998, and it was a massive hit worldwide. Manga veterans will definitely have heard of this title, even if they haven’t had the pleasure of reading it themselves.
The anime adaptation remake aired its last episode on June 29th, 2021, but fans were incredibly excited to learn that a prequel movie focusing on the parents of the protagonist, Tohru. The spin-off Fruits Basket -Prelude- is set to hit theaters on February 28th, 2022.
If you’re unfamiliar with the plot of Fruits Basket, it follows Tohru Honda’s life starting shortly after her mother passes away. With her father also long since deceased, her family argues over who will handle the "burden" of taking her in. Tohru says she'll stay with a friend. In reality, she’s living in a tent — on private property!
After her discovery by the owners, she ends up living with them, doing housework in exchange for a room. But there’s something strange about these three guys. When she bumps into them, they turn into animals of the zodiac!
