Fan Art of Miraculous Ladybug and Cat Noir - Hitting the Airwaves in The Land of the Rising Sun
International animated phenomenon Miraculous: The Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir made its long-awaited TV broadcast in Japan on April 2, 2022. Many fans have wondered how a show that carries many of the tropes found in traditional Japanese anime had yet to find an audience in the animation mecca of the world.
This CGI animated powerhouse was the brainchild of French writer and storyboarder Thomas Astruc. Before debuting in its country of origin, however, the show actually was first shown in South Korea in 2015. Since then, the show has been broadcast in as many as 120 countries including India, Pakistan, New Zealand, and the U.S. - and now it'll broadcast in Japan as well!
The show follows two Parisian teenagers, Marinette Dupain-Cheng and Adrien Agreste, as they navigate their own growing pains all while taking on the roles of Miraculous Ladybug and Cat Noir, two animal-themed superheroes charged with keeping Paris and the world safe from the forces of evil.
Despite the two being classmates and good friends when in civilian form, neither knows the other’s secret identity. This leads to quite the interesting love connection as Marinette has a major crush on Adrien, while Adrien has the hots for Ladybug.
The show’s fifth season is set to air in the West sometime this year and fans are excited to see just what sort of obstacles this dynamic duo will conquer, but for those new to the series, now may be a great time to dive in and see just what the world has been buzzing about.
To miss out on this opportunity would be an error of cat-aclysmic proportions.
