The tag “the presence in the background” (後ろの存在感) is used when an illustration is deemed bizarre in the sense that whatever is behind the main subject oozing a much bigger presence that commands our attention. The main subject situated at the front side of the illustration may be a hottie, a beauty, or a cutie--basically, a presence that is lovely and wonderful--but the surreal figure in the background is the one that manages to snatch our heart, much to our dismay.

Each illustration that we’re featuring this time has a figure of overwhelming presence in the background. Enjoy!

Have you ever been in a situation where you had nothing better to do and soon found yourself scribbling on a corner of your notebook's page? You were so into it that what was supposed to be a simple doodle was transforming into an epic artwork... Everyone must have scribbled once in their life, but many artworks that have been uploaded on pixiv look way too amazing to be called products of "scribbling". Those who view these illustrations probably agree that these can almost be considered masterpieces and so it's hard to believe that from the point of view of the artists, they never put that much effort into completing these artworks.

Today, we're featuring illustrations that are sure to make you doubt the definition of "scribbling". Enjoy!

Those kinds of illustrations are tagged with “We call it ‘reward’ around here” (我々の業界ではご褒美です). Scornful eyes, borderline painful abuse, cracking whips, and pointy heels… If these things make you feel ‘thrilled’ instead of ‘scared’, chances are the people “around there(?)” will welcome you as one of their own!

This time we’re featuring illustrations tagged with “We call it ‘reward’ around here” (我々の業界ではご褒美です). "Ascending Pegasus Mix Mori" is an ultimate "Mori gami (heaped and decorated hair)". Long hair is combed back to puff up to stand it up like the horn of unicorn and decorated it with hair accessories and flowers, miscellaneous goods, and even dolls to make this impactful hair style. In fact, when this hair style was originally introduced on a magazine, it shocked Japanese Internet users and caused an uproar. The horn rising high against the gravity looks like Eiffel Tower on a head.

Today's Highlight is about illustrations of this towering "Ascending Pegasus Mix Mori"!

Do you know of the Japanese picture book "Mou Nugenai"...? It means "I Can't Take It Off." It was created by Yomitake Minsuke and is about a small boy who tries and tries... but he can't take off his shirt. In fact, watching him struggle to take off his shirt is so adorable I feel better...!
Today's Spotlight is about the frantic characters who are parodying this picture book. Check them out!

They are so many heads tall they are akin to super model height yet they are all supposedly really young! Their team also gives us the topic of Blue Samurai... pixiv has all their parodies here. Check them out!
