The world just outside your front door is about to burst into technicolor! Are you ready?

Satoshi Mizukami (from World Trigger) is surrounded by calming camellias that complement his hair quite nicely.

Do you find yourself springing to life at the wonderful illustrations below?

Some flowers, like snowdrops and poinsettias, are resilient enough to proudly blossom even amid the freezing winter air. These hardy herbs, wintry weeds, and freezing flora each do their part in helping brighten up what would otherwise be dreary days.

Hu Tao (from Genshin Impact) looks dazzling in her white dress surrounded by plum blossoms, doesn't she?

Has a soft spot for any of the illustrations below begun to blossom?

Winter flowers are splashes of color in an otherwise desolate landscape, so it’s easy to see why their symbolism is meaningful to artists. Poinsettias are probably the most iconic winter flower in North America, but daffodils, camellias, and plum blossoms are also frequently spotted.

Do you have a favorite winter flower? Shinobu Kocho (from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba) reaching for a butterfly among plum blossoms is quite a lovely scene.

Growing straight up in the shape of a trumpet - that’s right, the Narcissus. It’s said that its name came from a beautiful man in a Greek fable with the same name. In the fable, Narcissus fell in love with his own reflection in the river, and stared at it until he was transformed into the flower by a Goddess. It’s meaning in flower language, narcissism, and self-centeredness may make you hesitate before giving it to someone else, but it also means to respond to love. Today, we have a series of illustrations featuring Narcissus. Enjoy!

Since these flowers get blown by the wind, they are called windflowers... in Greek, "wind" is "anemone."
With their large petals catching the wind, they are often representing "fleeting love" or "fading hope" and similar heart-wrenching ideas in the language of flowers. In Greek mythology, Adonis bleed because he was secretly in love with Aphrodite... and from his blood, bloomed anemone, hence creating the origin from its heart-wrenching image. Even the colors can represent other themes: red means "I love you," white means "hopeful reality," purple means "I believe you and will wait for you," etc. Check out these illustrations of anemone!

Since ancient times, the Camellia flowers have been enveloped around garden trees in Japan. Ranging from white to pink colors, they bloom colorfully even during the cold winters. The Camellia petals don't fall off individually-- the whole flower falls when it's time to drop. They're sometimes seen as a metaphor for people's heads falling off, so they have a bit of a dark, lonely side to them. Check out these illustrations!
