Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Movie: Infinity Castle Arc Part 1: Akaza Returns premiered in Japan on July 18th, 2025, and has already become a massive box office hit. Earning over 10 billion yen in just eight days, it has become the fastest-grossing film in Japanese cinema history.

Based on Koyoharu Gotouge’s hit manga Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, the story follows Tanjiro Kamado as he battles demons in Taisho-era Japan, seeking a cure to turn his demonized sister Nezuko back into a human.

This new film continues the anime series that began in 2019, and throws Tanjiro and the Demon Slayer Corps into a fierce showdown within the demons’ stronghold, the Infinity Castle. At the heart of the action is Akaza, the fearsome Upper Rank Three of the Twelve Kizuki, serving under the demon lord Muzan Kibutsuji. Known for delivering a fatal blow to Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku in the Mugen Train Arc, Akaza returns as Tanjiro’s toughest rival yet and one of the most iconic foes in the series.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a story written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotouge that is set against a backdrop of Japan during the Taisho period, and follows the protagonist Tanjiro Kamado as he battles demons as part of his quest to help his sister regain her humanity.

Season 1 of the anime was broadcast from April 2019 to September of the same year, and the movie Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Movie: Mugen Train premiered in Japan on October 16th, 2020, going on to be the highest-grossing movie in Japan ever.

The continuation, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Entertainment District Arc, was broadcast from December 2021 to February 2022. The newest installment, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Swordsmith Village, began its broadcast in April 2023 and is already making waves as fans tune into this exciting new chapter of the anime.

The second season of the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba anime will start airing in Japan on December 5th, beginning from the happenings of the Entertainment District Arc. This anime was announced on February 14th, 2021, after the huge success of the Mugen Train film adaptation. The anime will pick up right where the film left off, and the fandom is eager to see Tanjiro, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke fighting alongside each other once again. Fans will finally be able to see the Hashira Tengen Uzui in action, fighting some of the Twelve Kizuki alongside his three wives Suma, Makio, and Hinatsuru.

This character, who will self-proclaim himself a "god" to Tanjiro and his party, is mostly known for his eccentricity and "flamboyant" style. While the fans are completely in love with him, a lot of people are also curious to know more about the mysterious demon Daki.

The movie sequel of the original anime, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train, earned 37.4 billion JPY (approx. 374 million USD) at the box office. The manga series Kimetsu no Yaiba (Demon Slayer) is currently running in the weekly Shonen Jump and the anime series started airing in April. The story revolves around a boy named Tanjiro Kamado. He decided to join the Demon Slayer Corps which specializes in exterminating demons in order to avenge his family, who was killed by a demon, and to help her sister Nezuko, who was changed into a demon but still retains the heart of a human, become a human again. The series follows the battles Kamado has to face along with his comrades for the sake of protecting humans from the threat that demons pose.
