Creepy Yet Cool, Pest Masks!
Have you ever seen this creepy mask before?
With the beak of a bird, this mask is actually called a pest mask.
It’s a mask doctors (pest doctors ) in Europe during the Middle Ages wore to treat patients of Black Death. The beak-like mouth portion is to protect themselves from the contaminated air by putting flowers inside.
The outfit pest doctors wore was also interesting. To prevent themselves from getting infected, they wore long, black gowns with high hats, and held tree branches to avoid coming into contact with patients. This unique sight gave them the nickname “Death God”. This time, let us show you some illustrations with the creepy yet interesting pest masks.
