Sharp Beauty, Profile Drawings

Profile has a completely different charm compared to the mere front. A sharp profile often comes together with a fascinating atmosphere, doesn’t it? The term “E-Line” often comes up when talked about beautiful profiles. “E” stands for “esthetic” (or “aesthetic”), and the man behind this concept is Robert Ricketts, a dentist who came up with the theory in 1954. His theory is, the tip of the chin and the tip of the nose should connect with a single straight line and the lips should touch the line or slightly sunk inward. I know it’s hard to see your own profile, but why not try to check?
Today we collected a series of artworks portraying beautifully sculpted profiles. Enjoy!
