Maid costumes are common sights as character cosplays, Halloween costumes and a part of Japan’s sub-culture. It is now recognized as a symbol of ‘moe’, and was actually the work outfit of housekeepers in England in the 19th Century. The standard maid outfit includes a classic long dress with an apron, but has seen different variations over time, giving birth to many creative and original versions.
