A Beauty Floating in Water: Ophelia
“Ophelia” is the name of the heroine appearing in one of Shakespeare’s four great tragedies, the Hamlet. Many historical painters portrayed her dramatic death, when at the end of the play she is driven into insanity and drowns herself. It’s originally a very sad scene, but from that same scene we can take a glimpse of a unique beauty. It’s the same kind of beauty we find in flowers falling, the beauty of something destined to end. Today we collected a series of “Ophelia” inspired illustration. Enjoy!
