The term yandere refers to a person whose love for their crush is so, so, so, so, so, so, so much deeper than they know how to deal with and it drags them into a state of mental illness. Yandere characters can come across as scary and pitiful mainly because they don’t know what to do with their intense feelings and so they tend to be emotionally unstable. However, there’s also something lovely about these characters that will make you want to protect them, as odd as it sounds.
