Free 3D Character Maker "VRoid Studio" to be released at the end of July!

VRoid Studio serves as a solution to these problems since it is a character maker that can be easily operated by users to create their ideal characters.

Imagine a world where everyone can have their own unique character and they can use this character to communicate with other people or to participate in the creative industry--in order to make this world a reality, VRoid Studio is developed with a focus on "enabling users to intuitively create and for experienced artists to maximize their drawing techniques".

When a user activates a pen tool, every stroke of the pen will result in a 3D tuft of hair.

Users can also adjust the hair tuft's thickness and direction or add curls to the hair ends by setting various parameters. The parameters' values can be adjusted simply by moving the sliders to the left or right.

So even if a user has zero knowledge about 3D modeling, they can still operate the app intuitively and achieve their ideal hairdo.

Textures can be directly painted on top of a 3D object, much like painting an illustration, and the UV mapping is reflected in real time.

Users can also paint on textures that have been mapped, so users can always check the look of their object as they continue to add layers of textures.

Additionally, VRoid Studio's paint tools are sensitive to pressure, allowing users to produce various depictions, such as light and shade.

VRoid Studio will continue to evolve, adding tools that enhance users' intuitive modeling of their character's every body part.

"Making an environment where people can have fun creating their own works" is pixiv's ideology. pixiv aims to create a world where everyone is free to engage in the making of creative work and enjoy those very works. VRoid Project's aim is to let as many people as possible experience an environment where people have their own 3D characters and they can enjoy communication in an environment that involves VR/AR and the making of creative work using their characters.

3DCG used to belong exclusively to the film industry, but now it is used actively in the production of things that we are familiar with, such as anime series and smartphone games.

Many creators now express their desire to use 3D, and yet the supply is still unable to fully meet their demands. The more VR/AR technology spreads, the more 3D works become common sights and the demands coming from 3D creators are only expected to grow.

The goal of this project is to make it possible for anyone to create contents that use 3D. What creators have now is their imagination and power of expression and it is our wish to support them by giving them the power of technology as they venture into a new field that is 3D creation.

Up until now, creators have only made 2D characters. But once they're able to create 3D versions of their characters and use these characters in the production of anime series and video games, the field of creative work production will expand by a great deal.

We want creators to be able to experience the potentials and the fun involved in the production of 3D. We hope that they can bring into the world many new and fascinating works and that the number of creators who can create 3D models will increase. These are the reasons we started the VRoid Project.

To this day, pixiv has supported the making of various creative works, such as illustrations, manga, and novels, which are expressed through 2D media. In the future, we wish to provide many services that support the field of creative work as it will be influenced by VRoid Project.
