Children's books may contain simple words, but the stories inside are often more than sharp enough to entertain the readers. Hence why we believe some of you must have been addicted to certain books that your literature teachers instructed you to read back when you were children. In fact, those of you who are still in elementary and middle school in Japan have probably read some children's books for your "morning reading time", or "morning reading" (朝読) for short.
Now if we adults start reading some children's books, we might be surprised by how genuinely entertaining these books are. We might even come to look at the same book that we used to read as children from a deeper perspective, comprehend the undertones, and discover new findings.

Zukkoke Sannin-gumi Series
The main story was completed in 2004, but due to the fans' enthusiasm, the series was continued with the release of Zukkoke Chunen Sannin-gumi, which depicts the trio in their adulthood. The entire series ended with the publication of Zukkoke Jukunen Sannin-gumi. The entire series has published a total of 24 million copies.

The series has published 35 million copies in total and celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2017. The series ranks number 1 in the list of books that children pick during their morning reading time.
Bokura Series
Students of Class 1-2 from a middle school in downtown Tokyo decided to have what they call "Our 7 Days War" during their summer holiday. The Bokura series depict the various incidents that these students face after the "war" began. The series has published a total of 15 million copies and the anime movie titled Bokura no Nanokakan Senso is scheduled to be released in 2019.

Gakko no Kowai Uwasa: Hanako-san ga Kita!! Series
The anime was aired on Fuji TV's Ponkikki Kids and adapted into a book series at the same time. The series has published 1.5 million copies in total and the second series, titled Gakko no Kowai Uwasa: Shin Hanako-san ga Kita!!, was published in 2006.
