While most countries have their own form of railway crossings (also known as level crossings, railroad crossings, etc), they’re an incredibly common sight in Japan. Not only do they include the typical X warning sign, but they often have loud audio signaling, flashing lights, and a drop bar to help prevent pedestrians and cars from getting in the way. It can have quite a dramatic vibe to it.
