Up until very recently, fully-functioning prosthetics were only a thing of science fiction. As such, there are a lot of different series, both sci-fi and fantasy, that feature characters with artificial limbs. Many creators even design their characters’ prosthetics to be even better than the real deal.

Edward Elric (from Fullmetal Alchemist) is arguably the most iconic character in anime with a prosthetic, dubbed “automail” in the series. What comes to mind when you think of a mechanical prosthetic?
