Laid-Back Camp, also called Yuru Camp△, is a manga series serialized by Houbunsha's manga service COMIC FUZ. It's gone on to spawn a movie that hit theaters in Japan on July 1, 2022!

What is "Laid-Back Camp"?

Created by mangaka Afro, Laid-Back Camp has been serialized in Houbunsha's manga magazine Manga Time Kirara Forward since its July 2015 issue. It is currently serialized by COMICFUZ, Houbunsha's official manga service.

The story centers on high school students Rin Shima and Nadeshiko Kagamihara, who not only have a passion for enjoying the outdoors, but also give detailed explanations of camping etiquette and knowledge.

Even though Laid-Back Camp's main setting is Yamanashi Prefecture, adjacent areas like Shizuoka Prefecture and southern Nagano Prefecture also appear from time to time.

The Japanese title's "△" is meant to represent a camping tent.

This popular work loosely depicts high school girls as they camp and go about their daily lives in Yamanashi Prefecture. The manga has also inspired an anime, a live-action TV series, various popular camping goods, and a boom in popularity for the outdoor pastime.

Over the anime's two seasons, the five young campers developed friendships through their love of camping. The movie, however, seems to take place several years after their graduation from Motosu High School. The five friends, who have gone their separate ways, are reunited and decide to create a campground.

Fans are eager to see how the beauty of nature, the delicious food, and the relaxing time spent gazing at the campfire, will come across in the film.

Nadeshiko Kagamihara

Nadeshiko encounters Rin on her first day after moving to Yamanashi Prefecture while the latter was on a solo camping trip. This sparked her interest in camping, and she became a member of the outdoor activity circle at her new school, Motosu High School. Nadeshiko is fun-loving, positive, and cheerful.

Rin Shima

A highly experienced solo camper who started camping during her first year of junior high school, learning everything from her grandfather. Although she mainly camped alone during the cold off-season, after meeting Nadeshiko, she got the chance to experience camping with someone else for the first time. Even though she isn't a member of her high school's outdoor club, she finds herself a bit concerned about Nadeshiko.

Chiaki Ogaki

A co-founder of the high school's outdoor club who also serves as its leader and morale booster. Hardly ever seen without her large black-rimmed glasses, Chiaki is a cheerful and dynamic person who prioritizes having fun in everything she does, from choosing campsites to selecting equipment. She's also quite sensitive and empathetic.

Aoi Inuyama

Co-founder of the high school's outdoor club, Aoi is a calm person with a Kansai accent who's known for keeping Chiaki and Nadeshiko in check when they run off on a tangent. She serves as a sort of leader behind-the-scenes of the club's activities, taking care of everyone at critical moments.

Ena Saito

Ena, who has been friends with Rin since junior high school, is a free spirit who does everything at her own pace. She and Rin keep in touch through social media. Ena sometimes offers Rin advice on how to be more social. Ena's friendship with Rin helped her become friends with Nadeshiko as well and although she isn't an official outdoor club member, she shows interest in their activities from time to time. She has a dog named Chikuwa.

Sakura Kagamihara

Nadeshiko's older sister who picks her up and takes her to campsites on her way to school. Though she sometimes scolds Nadeshiko for her outbursts, Sakura watches over her sister with a kind heart. She loves her car, which is a Nissan Racine.
