The harmonious blend of human and machine has been the stuff of sci-fi for nearly the genre’s entire lifespan. The idea of perfectly blurring the lines between natural and artificial and taking our capabilities to unknown levels has inspired not only fiction, but actual science as well. Who knows? Perhaps a few decades from now, we’ll be able to optimize our bodies with all of the performance-enhancing technology as easily as we change socks.
