Fan Art of Characters from Genshin Impact - Rough Weather Ahead
The world of Genshin Impact, miHoYo’s action RPG that has made quite an impact on fans the world over, is exceedingly vast. So much so that we couldn’t fit in all there is to know about the many distinct nations and their people. Today, we’ll continue our series on the seven worlds of Teyvat and let you in on a few of their secrets.
Let’s kick things off with the basics. The world of Teyvat is broken up into seven distinct nations: Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and Snezhnaya, each governed by a deity who wields a particular Element: Anemo, Cryo, Dendro, Electro, Geo, Hydro, and Pyro. This group of deities, known as the Archons, are said to make their home on the floating island of Celestia, along with mortals who attain godhood through extraordinary and heroic feats.
Ruins of the fallen nation of Khaenri'ah, which was destroyed by the Archons 500 years before our story begins, can be found underground and lack a presiding deity. Your player, the “Traveler” who either goes by Aether or Lumine depending on your choice, finds themselves trapped in this unknown world and is separated from their twin sibling. Joined by Paimon, an NPC whom the player saves from drowning, the Traveler begins their journey across Teyvat’s expansive landscapes to be reunited with their sibling.
Inazuma is Teyvat’s supercharged archipelago that worships and is run by the Electro Archon herself, Raiden Shogun. Current events in the game have seen the island nation cut itself off from the rest of the world, shutting off its borders and making entering and leaving an arduous task.
Those lucky enough to cross those barriers, however, will be treated to wonderful landscapes and astounding natural phenomena that are unlike anything else in Teyvat.
Made up of five islands and two areas, Inazuma has an atmosphere that is surging with a certain spark that’s sure to charm any traveler.
There’s Narukami Island, home to most of Inazuma’s population; its ruling body, the Inazuma Shogunate; and Mt. Yougou, where the Grand Narukami Shrine mightily stands. Then, there’s Seirai Island, where due to a past calamity, a perpetual storm rages at the island’s center.
Tsurumi Island, which is eternally shrouded in a thick fog, was once home to two ancient civilizations but now is inhabited solely by the local flora, fauna, and automatons.
Watatsumi Island is home to diverse and abundant plant life that comes in an array of breathtaking colors, while Yashiori Island suffers from torrential downpours and frequent thunderstorms, which may be beneficial if you play your cards right.
Enkanomiya, which can only be accessed when certain criteria are met, is an area located underneath Watatsumi Island with an interesting history and lore that may be connected to the verdant island’s long-forgotten past.
Finally, there’s Kannazuka, an area that’s considered to be disputed territory between The Inazuma Shogunate and the Watatsumi Army. As it is an area without military or religious influence, it was named Kannazuka which means “the hill where no gods reside”.
Of course, as you make your way through this fascinating region, you’ll encounter equally fascinating characters. To help you get acquainted, we’ve assembled some amazing fan art of some of those characters. Have a look and see if you feel a certain spark when looking at any of them.
