Drawings Featuring Miko Shrine Maidens - Enveloped in a Pure Atmosphere
Clad in traditional robes of white and red, you'll often see miko (巫女, lit. "shrine maidens") tending to the day-to-day tasks that keep shrines running. In ancient times, miko performed roles such as performing Shinto music and dances, praying, and divining fortunes. In modern times, though, miko typically only perform services during Shinto rituals.
Kikyo (from Inuyasha) is perhaps one of the world of anime and manga's most iconic miko, helping introduce a generation to the traditional role in Shintoism.
Does seeing the wonderful miko below ease your spirits a little bit?
