Uma Musume Pretty Derby, Cygame’s ever-popular multimedia franchise, revolves around uma musume (ウマ娘, lit. “horse girls”) named after legendary Japanese racehorses. Having inherited their namesakes’ speed and endurance, as well as their ears and tails, the girls train daily at Tokyo’s Tracen Academy in hopes of becoming prominent racers and idols.

Besides being a mobile game, Uma Musume Pretty Derby also has an anime adaptation produced by P.A. Works, with the third season premiering on October 4th, 2023. This season features Kitasan Black and Satono Diamond as the main characters, each fans of Tōkai Teiō and Mejiro McQueen respectively, and focuses on their highs and lows as they strive for their goals.
