The film Kitarō Tanjō: GeGeGe no Nazo (鬼太郎誕生 ゲゲゲの謎, lit. “The Birth of Kitarō: The Mystery of GeGeGe”) was released this year to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the late Shigeru Mizuki. Based on the sixth season of the anime series GeGeGe no Kitarō and set in 1955 in the fictional Yagura Village, this movie serves as a precursor to the series and sheds light on its mysterious beginnings. Fans of Kitarō’s biological father, Medama-Oyaji, get ready to rejoice, for you’ll get to witness him in all of his youthful, fully-formed adult glory!
