Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is a manga series written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, currently serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday. Since its premiere last September on Nippon Television’s Friday Roadshow—the first time a TV anime series has debuted on the renowned program—Frieren has had countless anime fans buzzing with excitement.
The series follows the life of Frieren, an elven mage belonging to the Hero Party, on a quest to defeat the Demon King. After a decade-long battle, the party disbands, and Frieren wanders the now-peaceful world aimlessly, collecting various forms of “useless” magic as a pastime. However, her human companions gradually age over the years, and when the hero, Himmel, meets his inevitable demise, Frieren decides to embark on a journey to learn more about humans and connect with them on a deeper level.
