Drawings Featuring Chains - Breaking Free
What words come to mind when you think of chains? More often than not, chains tend to be associated with words like captivity, imprisonment, and restraint. You’re also most likely to see them wrapped around gates with no trespassing warnings or have an image of a prisoner with a ball and chain around their ankle. When used as a motif in illustrations, they can either signify that the character is in a bind (no pun intended) or breaking free (both literally and figuratively) of their shackles, which make for powerful imagery.
Have you ever been in a tight spot that made you feel as if you were bound and chained? Perhaps you can relate to the illustrations below!
