Drawings Featuring Stained Glass - Colors That Soothe the Heart
One of the first things you might notice when you walk into a museum, place of worship, or old home is its stained glass windows. After “cartoons,” i.e., full-sized sketches for the overall composition of a window or different sections of the window, are made, the glass pieces are then cut, shaped, and painted before being held together by narrow strips of lead to form a panel. This process is what gives the stained glass its signature look. As stunning as it is on its own, stained glass takes on a whole new level of ethereality when light passes through it, the dispersed colors creating a magnificent, kaleidoscopic effect.
