Blue Archive, a free-to-play tactical role-playing game developed by Nexon Games for mobile, recently celebrated its fourth JP anniversary on February 4th, 2025. The main story of Blue Archive revolves around Sensei’s journey—the player’s character and main protagonist—as they travel to various schools in Kivotos to assist the students with their problems, occasionally getting into (mis)adventures along the way.

One of the characters players can meet in this game is Tsukatsuki Rio. The student council president of Millennium Science School, Rio can be stoic and ruthless due to her tendency to value facts over emotions, a trait that puts her at odds with the other students and instills terror in them. While her approach of always doing “what’s most rational” often leads to criticism, she also has a protective and nurturing side that becomes apparent in her interactions with certain people. Due to her prioritization of strength and power over aesthetics, she is known to be obsessed with designs that are considered outdated—although one might argue that they’re merely a little “avant garde.”
