Getting to know a like-minded companion and encountering your differences - the one existence that is always on your mind is that of your rival. There are common patterns in manga and anime where opposite organizations do not see eye to eye, or comrades belonging to the same team or group that become a worthy rivals of one another. While preserving this delicate balance of a relationship where both parties help progress each other’s abilities, a rivalry holds a special charm that is different from a regular friendship.
