Cumulonimbus: Towering in the Blue Sky
Cumulonimbus can often be seen on fine summer days. Among the many types of clouds, these are the largest. They can extend over 10,000 meters from their base to their peak. It's because of their huge presence that cumulonimbus clouds have gained some unique names in Japan. For example, in the Kanto region they are also called bandou-tarou, while in the Osaka region they are also known as tanba-tarou. These names both refer to the region from which these clouds come. Whenever an enormous cumulonimbus towers in the big blue sky, one may feel overwhelmed by their beauty. Today, we have illustrations featuring cumulonimbus. Enjoy!
