Let's return to Mother Sea. Burial At Sea
"Burial at sea" is a ceremony that involves putting the body of a dead person into the sea, or into the water.
Since water is a source of life, many people link the image of water to "life". However, it seems that in Northern Europe it's fairly common to bury people at sea to wish them a peaceful resurrection thanks to the eternal flowing water. One of the most famous depictions of burial at sea is "Ophelia" by Millet, which portrays a scene from Shakespeare's "Hamlet". The burial is drawn as a solemn and very delicate moment.
