They choose to stray off the path in order to gain more power or because of an idea that the enemy planted… When an ally turns to the dark side without so much as a warning, the situation is referred to as “aku-ochi” or “yami-ochi” (悪堕ち; 闇堕ち; falling to the evil or dark side). The thought of someone leaving behind their beliefs and causes and, although it kills them inside, betraying their allies is a painful one and it makes our hearts ache. And yet, watching a hero who used to have a strong sense of justice change completely and abruptly is in itself pretty exciting…!
