Miko are Shinto priestesses. While historically they were viewed as something akin to shamans, nowadays they perform a variety of tasks in service to a specific kami (神, "god"). They wear an iconic white kimono with bright red hakama, which certainly gives them a chaste appearance, doesn’t it?
