Airi Pan:
So so much detail and such interesting ideas in this piece! Even the flourishes on each side are completely different from each other. From the ants, to the flower eyeballs to the little house, it really does feel like a mishmash dreamscape. The lace alone has so much intricacy and detail it’s incredible, and seeing the little surprises found in each corner of the piece makes it so fun to look at.

Crisalys:
I love how bold and sweet this piece feels. The artist clearly pays close attention, care, and love to the delicate details of every object and has great control over their strokes and linework, which gives the piece a strong sense of confidence, which is something really pleasing to look at. It has a surreal, almost dream-pop vibe, and a definite feminine touch that makes it stand out to me, like something out of a Victorian girl’s storybook.

Raita Kazama:
It's like a page straight out of a storybook—whimsical, yet with a slightly eerie world that's incredibly intriguing. The layout is packed with all kinds of elements, and every time you look there’s something new to discover, and it never gets boring. The texture and color palette remind me of vintage letterpress printing. I'd love to frame it and hang it on my wall!
2nd Place

Raita Kazama:
This could be a panel in a manga, a concept art piece for a movie or game, or even just a standalone artwork, and it fits the theme perfectly! From the illustration, you get a strong sense of what's happening in this world. It makes you think, "Whoa... What’s going to happen to this guy next?" It’s thrilling and exciting!

Airi Pan:
Has a terrific feeling and vibe, something instantly felt off when I saw this piece. I love the feeling it evokes. The colors are a very bold choice, and even though admittedly the blacks make the piece a little muddy, it really helps to amplify its message and mood. A very brave choice to do such a warped fisheye lens too!
3rd Place

Airi Pan:
This is hands down my favorite piece I must admit. It is SO unique, and gives off SUCH a “fresh” feeling. The warping of the people on the camera, the different perspectives, and the story behind it. It feels so whimsical and fun and I just want to learn more about the story behind it. The graphicness of it is also exceptionally clean, which just makes it such a satisfying piece to look at.

Crisalys:
The composition of this piece really stood out to me. At first glance, it might seem simple, but if you look closer, you'll see all the hidden details and emotions inside the camera shell that you might have missed if you don’t spend more time with it.
The clean lines, the gestures and intimacy of each character gives a sense that they could start moving any second, like frames from a short film. This adds a really cool dynamism to the artwork, making it feel alive and full of energy.
The intense red contrasts against the black background. It really catches your eye, giving the piece a strong contrast that makes it pop. The camera's unique shiny shape and curves adds another layer to the composition, giving this illustration a strong futuristic vibe. This work is visually engaging and invites you to look deeper.
High School Division
1st Place
This award is presented to the most outstanding illustration submitted by a high school student.
The winner receives a prize of 1,000 USD, a Copic Sketch 72 Colors Set A & Copic Sketch Book L size, an Orbital2 device, and the art book "EYE YONEYAMA MAI" by PIE International.

Airi Pan:
There’s something very haunting about the piece, it feels very soulful, and the the swirls of the tree are very impressive, especially if it was done by hand. It looks like a simple piece at first, but it really struck me as very different from pieces usually done by any other high school student. It feels like it could be fine art, and to me means this artist has a very promising future.

Raita Kazama:
Personally, I see great potential in this piece. There are still some rough areas and slightly awkward character placement, but overall the balance, the Impressionist-like colors and textures, and the perspective looking up from below are all excellent. Since illustration is about telling a story visually, I believe this artist could become truly exceptional with further narrative development!
2nd Place

Crisalys:
This piece is super fun and overflowing with energy! I think a lot of artists can relate to it (laughs)—especially that feeling of keeping on pushing through with tears when things get tough.
I also love how the perspective of the pen and quick movement of the hand plays a big role in making this work feel specially dynamic, like being in the middle of a creative storm with the viewer almost face-to-face with the action. It almost feels like the artist is telling you, “keep going!” in the middle of a creative struggle. The combination of the colors and the raw, very expressive painting style makes this piece pop with an incredible sense of depth. It’s a super inspiring and just a really fun, powerful work overall!

Airi Pan:
There’s a super strong energy about this piece, and I think it captures a feeling so many artists have.
I commend the artist for having the bravery to do a piece with such a powerful emotion and face as well!
3rd Place

Raita Kazama:
Is this really the work of a high school student!? The imagination, composition, storytelling, characters, and overall world—every element is executed at an outstanding level. Even the gestures of the hands express each character’s personality. You can almost hear voices or the clinking of dishes just by looking at it. I believe this artist has a remarkably sophisticated understanding of what illustration is all about.
Comic Art Editorial Award

Raita Kazama:
The unique worldbuilding in this piece is incredibly captivating—it makes me want to explore or go on an adventure in this world! With further refinement of the creatures, environments, and character designs within this universe, the narrative depth could expand even more. In fact, I genuinely want to learn more about this world and see it expressed further. Considering this was created by a high school student, I’m truly excited to see what this artist does next!
