Fist Pump, the Victory Pose!
Fist pump is a pose where you clench your fists to celebrate victory, or when you’re so satisfied after finishing what you were doing. You can often see it on TV, when athletes win matches or races.
Victory pose is called “guts pose” in Japanese. The term gained popularity after a journalist expressed fist pump as “guts pose” when Guts Ishimatsu made his fist pump with both hands winning WBC boxing title match for light weight on April 11th, 1974.
