Have you ever seen a khakkhara in your favorite anime/manga? Known by some as a pewter staff, these items are usually seen in the hands of Buddhist monks. What started out as a simple noisemaker to ward off animals, has been depicted in some anime as either having or channeling spiritual energy.

Although Albis (from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime) and Miroku (from Inuyasha) have other more formidable powers at their disposal to keep enemies at bay, you’ll rarely see them without their khakkharas.
