Fan Art of Characters from Genshin Impact - An Isolated Spark of Excitement

The world of Genshin Impact, miHoYo’s action RPG that has made quite an impact on fans the world over, is exceedingly vast. So much so that we couldn’t fit in all there is to know about the many distinct nations and their people. Today, we’ll continue our series on the seven worlds of Teyvat and let you in on a few of their secrets.

Let’s kick things off with the basics. The world of Teyvat is broken up into seven distinct nations: Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, Sumeru, Fontaine, Natlan, and Snezhnaya, each governed by a deity who wields a particular Element: Anemo, Cryo, Dendro, Electro, Geo, Hydro, and Pyro. This group of deities, known as the Archons, are said to make their home on the floating island of Celestia, along with mortals who attain godhood through extraordinary and heroic feats.

Ruins of the fallen nation of Khaenri'ah, which was destroyed by the Archons 500 years before our story begins, can be found underground and lack a presiding deity. Your player, the “Traveler” who either goes by Aether or Lumine depending on your choice, finds themselves trapped in this unknown world and is separated from their twin sibling. Joined by Paimon, an NPC whom the player saves from drowning, the Traveler begins their journey across Teyvat’s expansive landscapes to be reunited with their sibling.

Inazuma is a collection of islands roughly four kilometers southwest of Liyue. This region worships the Electro Archon, Raiden Shogun, who also leads the region’s governing body, the Inazuma Shogunate.

Events that take place in the game lead the island region to turn toward isolating itself from the rest of the world. Relations have become so tense that some who have defected from Inazuma discourage travelers from going there and detail just how difficult it is for residents to leave thanks to a storm barrier that is nigh impossible to get through.

Once you manage to find a way to cross the treacherous border, you’ll encounter a host of interesting characters that help move your adventure forward, like Yae Miko, a beautiful kitsune who oversees Inazuma’s Grand Narukami Shrine as well as owns her very own publishing house.

There’s also the Raiden Shogun, a unique being as she’s actually a two-in-one deal. She’s of course Inazuma’s Electro Archon, who goes by the name Ei, but she inhabits the vessel of a puppet she created, known only as the Shogun, to act as the region's ruler in her place.

Between this region's closed-off yet plentiful natural beauty and the interesting characters you’ll meet along the way, your journey through Inazuma is sure to spark all sorts of excitement for you.
