VTuber agency NIJISANJI celebrates its 5th anniversary this year, can you believe it? In just that short amount of time, we've seen the company's colorful cast of characters in not only the world of livestreaming but also taking part in gaming competitions and performing as idols.

Currently, there are over 150 VTubers on the NIJISANJI roster, but when the project was first launched there were only eight who, instead of being VTubers, were initially acting as test users for the development of a free livestreaming app for the general public.

Who makes up NIJISANJI's First Generation?

The original eight members are Tsukino Mito, Higuchi Kaede, Shizuka Rin, Elu, Yuki Chihiro, Suzuya Aki, Moira, and Shibuya Hajime, who kicked off their activities in January 2018 for Nijisanji, a VTuber group that utilized an app for the iPhoneX developed by ANYCOLOR Corporation (formerly known as Ichikara Inc) for livestreaming.

After the second group of VTubers began their work in March 2018, these original eight members were dubbed the "first generation", but are also known as the first half of NIJISANJI's 2018 Wave.
